- Lecturer at Buckingham New University is sacked after deliberately failing two of her female students to ‘punish’ them for ‘drunken behaviour’ during fancy dress night out – Dr Maria Konstantaki targeted the pair who she was convinced had disturbed her and her sister’s homes while they were on a night out wearing cheerleaders outfits, an employment tribunal heard (DailyMail)
- Vexatious litigant banned after bringing 40 Employment Tribunal claims – David Taheri ‘habitually and persistently’ filed claims against companies that refused to offer him a job in order to place ‘undue pressure on the would-be employers to enter into low-value settlements with him’, the Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled (The Law Society Gazette)
- Tax expert ‘was told she lost role after antagonising bosses with trans tweets’ – Ms Forstater took her case to an employment tribunal on the grounds that her dismissal constituted discrimination against her beliefs (The Independent)
- LSE is an orgy of debauchery, says academic in £4m claim – Dr Theodore Piepenbrock, who is seeking more than £4 million in compensation from the London School of Economics, has alleged that he was the victim of a “campaign of vengeance” (The Times)
- Nursery worker, 23, who told female bosses she was pregnant a week after starting job wins £25,000 payout after they asked if keeping baby was ‘good idea’ – Darci Topping, 23, was subjected to ‘negative inferences’ about her pregnancy by her managers at Stepping Stones Nursery in the Lancashire village of Hoddlesden (DailyMail)
- Man wins racism claim after boss put on Irish accent and danced like leprechaun – Mr Montgomery also ‘bobbed his head and moved his shoulders from side to side’ to pretend to be a leprechaun dancing, a tribunal heard (WalesOnline)
- Top Scots firearms cop faces criminal probe after ‘lying’ about porn pictures sent to officers – Sergeant Keith Warhurst has been suspended from frontline duties and is the subject of a report to prosecutors over evidence he gave at an employment tribunal (Daily Record)
- Peter Vardy car saleswoman told to twirl by male bosses wins £9,000 – The woman had arrived at Peter Vardy, a Glasgow dealership, in a skirt that had creased during her journey, an employment tribunal was told (The Times)
- Mind support worker ‘bullied out of her job’ after reporting colleagues for mocking a disabled woman wins £115,000 in compensation – A charity worker has won £115,000 compensation after being wrongly sacked for whistleblowing on foul-mouthed colleagues calling disabled people “druggy bums” and “wastes of space” (WalesOnline)
- Jewish lawyer wins more than £26,000 in a religious discrimination case after he was sacked for not coming into work during Passover – but says he HASN’T seen the cash – Philip Bialick, 44, a civil litigation specialist, was brought up in the Orthodox faith and observes religious holidays strictly so had booked time off work especially for Passover (DailyMail)
