  1. Chef claims boss was racist by throwing sausage fat at him – A Hindu chef who claimed he had sausage fat thrown at him by his head chef and was told “all Indians eat pork” has had his discrimination claim rejected (Leicester Live)
  2. Firm to pay £26,500 to worker sacked for not coming in on Jewish holiday – Litigation executive Philip Bialick had booked time in April 2020 as holiday with his firm, Manchester-based NNE Law Limited, but was told to attend the office anyway (Law Gazette)
  3. Male NHS consultant ordered a female junior doctor to strip naked in front of him as punishment for getting a question wrong then claimed he could make her orgasm just by touching her back, employment tribunal hears – Edwin Chandraharan referred to himself and the young medic, known as WX, as ‘Commander and Commandee’ whilst they were away on a conference and said that he was offering her ‘special training’ (DailyMail)
  4. Black retirement village manager was told she had a ‘slave mentality’ – A black manager at an upmarket retirement village was racially discriminated against when she was told she had a ‘slave mentality’ by a white colleague, a tribunal has found (EssexLive)
  5. Peacocks workers win £230,000 in landmark court case on redundancy pay – The fashion retailer Peacocks, set up in 1884, did not properly consult with workers after it fell into administration in November 2020, and now an employment tribunal has ordered it to pay 140 workers (Mirror)
  6. Barclays worker quit after dirty calls from rich clients triggered her PTSD – A Barclays worker has lost a discrimination case after being driven to leave her job by ‘unpleasant, distressing and sexualised’ calls she received while dealing with wealthy customers (KentLive)
  7. Beauty therapist at luxury spa visited by Amanda Holden and Carol Vorderman wins discrimination claim after she was sacked just 11 days after telling her boss that she was pregnant – Suzanne Peck, director of Homefield Grange, sent gushing email to Agata Plewa but she told her the celeb retreat could not guarantee her future employment (DailyMail)
  8. Painter claims Cramlington company made him redundant because he accused them of ‘furlough fraud’ – Mr Snowball alleges he was unfairly dismissed after five years at the company for making whistleblowing claims (ChronicleLive)
  9. Sacked law firm receptionist suffered pregnancy discrimination – The claimant, listed as Mrs K Nasreen, was effectively ignored by her boss at Malik Law Chambers after going off work with sickness and told through her husband she was ‘no longer needed’ (Law Gazette)
  10. Teacher off sick for year after allegation of hurting pupil wins £15,000 – Gillian Ewart-Bannister was signed off sick for almost a year after an allegation she had ‘physically assaulted’ the girl at a rural school, leaving bruises on their hip, an employment tribunal heard (EssexLive)
