  1. Nurse ‘victimised’ for wearing cross at work was unfairly dismissed, tribunal rules – Mary Onuoha, a theatre practitioner at Croydon university hospital, Surrey, was discriminated against and harassed, an employment tribunal ruled on Wednesday (The Guardian)
  2. Ex-employee had no choice but to carry out ‘racist instructions’, tribunal told – Gary Forrester, 39, told an employment tribunal the “dog-eat-dog” nature of the business meant staff targeted ethnic minorities with fixed penalty notices (FPNs) as they were less likely to challenge them (The National)
  3. Woman with dementia wins unfair dismissal claim – A 75-year-old woman with dementia has won a legal claim against supermarket chain Asda for age and disability discrimination and unfair dismissal (BBC News)
  4. Teaching assistant sacked after giving boy girls’ name in PE lesson – A primary school teaching assistant was sacked after he ‘humiliated’ a young boy by giving him a girl’s name in class (Kent Live)
  5. Cancer sufferer wins £40,000 after boss said ‘don’t be a baby’ – Steve Pointon was just 36 when he was first diagnosed with the disease and had to undergo a ‘traumatic’ and ‘brutal’ treatment regime while his managers continually complained about his performance (Coventry Telegraph)
  6. Care home boss was sacked from her job of 15 years for going to a lockdown birthday bash one day after Boris Johnson ‘attended a leaving party in Downing Street’, employment tribunal hears – Selina Taylor breached Covid rules in November 2020 by going to a gathering with six junior members of her staff from Bamford Close care home in Stockport, Greater Manchester to celebrate one of their birthdays (DailyMail)
  7. Worker calls ‘bailiffs’ on Jaguar Land Rover after firm fails to pay £250,000 award – Brian Fox, 62, was awarded £250,000 by an employment tribunal after multi-billion-pound car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover was found to have unfairly dismissed him after his request not to work night shifts at their Coventry site after his recovery from heart surgery was refused (Mirror)
  8. Decorator wins tribunal after boss asked her to wear stockings up ladder – A painter and decorator has won a sexual harassment case after her boss asked her to wear stockings and suspenders next time she climbed up a ladder (Coventry Live)
  9. Woman sacked from GP surgery for raising Covid fears wins £15,000 – A cancer survivor has won £15,000 after she was sacked from the GP practice where she worked for complaining about medical students visiting during the covid pandemic (Essex Live)
  10. Tribunal win for Ninewells Hospital worker docked pay over wife’s Covid test – A hospital worker who was docked pay after he refused to go to work while his partner was awaiting a Covid test result has secured a payout from an employment tribunal (The Herald)
