  1. Man sacked for using toilets while cleaners were there and failing to flush – A factory worker has been sacked for ‘harassing’ cleaners by going to the toilet with the cubicle door open – and not flushing afterwards, an employment tribunal heard (Essex Live)
  2. Pregnant insurance broker who was sacked after looking for prams online during work hours and snooped on manager’s message calling her a ‘f***ing muppet’ loses unfair dismissal claim – Paige Mowatt spent more than ten-and-a-half hours viewing non-work-related material over just 15 days, an employment tribunal heard (DailyMail)
  3. Almost 400 drivers join employment rights legal battle against Amazon – Legal firm Leigh Day launched a claim on behalf of one driver just months ago – but the number who have signed up to take action has now swelled to 392 (Independent)
  4. Domino’s Pizza delivery driver sacked after child abuse case mistake – Mohammad Khan was sacked over the mistaken belief he faced court on a child abuse charge – but has lost a legal battle over his dismissal (Birmingham Live)
  5. Senior City lawyer keeps job despite calling Asian colleague ‘Hu She’ – A French bank in the City of London has become embroiled in an alleged racism scandal after a senior lawyer kept his job despite an investigation finding that he referred to an Asian colleague as “Hu She” (Telegraph)
  6. Dying man denied early retirement date on technicality ‘losing family £125,000’ – Keith Anderson was initially told he could take retirement on medical grounds meaning his family would be entitled to pension payments after death (Liverpool Echo)
  7. Greggs driver suing bakery chain for racism after colleague compared working to slavery – Mr Richardson-Cuffe, who has raised a discrimination claim against Greggs, told an employment tribunal that he was treated differently to other drivers because of his skin colour (Mirror)
  8. Ex-Tesco worker gets £45,000 discrimination payout after suffering ‘injured feelings’ – Craig West, who is disabled, was made to spread his working week out over five days, rather than three, by the supermarket giant. He was subsequently dismissed but a week-long tribunal heard Tesco had discriminated against Mr West by proceeding with a formal absence management procedure (Express)
  9. Cheshire village pub forced to pay out former manager over dispute – A woman who managed a village pub in Cheshire has been awarded damages after her employer docked her pay when she gave in her notice (Cheshire Live)
  10. Ex-BNP banker wins £2m payout for gender discrimination – A former BNP Paribas employee has won a £2m payout after judges decided the French bank unfairly discriminated against her because of her gender (Financial Times)
